Duty Free City is a new entrant to the American border store business, opening their first outlet in San Ysidro near San Diego. The initial store will service traffic into Mexico, but it is claimed that 25 other stores will open at border locations with both Mexico and Canada in the North.

The management of this new Firm have previous experience in the duty free market with beauty products, gifts and liquors. Press reports allege that they are planning a working arrangement with the Estée Lauder Group's extensive brand range, a product line not available at some of the other competing border stores.
