The tax-free retailer Colombian Emeralds is a chain of jewellery stores operating throughout the Caribbean and Central America. Founded some years ago in Freeport Bahamas with two outlets, it grew to the islands dominated by cruise ship traffic and the shoppers they carry, now there is more than fifty stores. The Swiss Travel Retail group Dufry bought Colombian Emeralds some years ago and now run it as a subsidiary brand.

Although the main focus is jewelry, the catalogue includes a range of brand name watches such as Bulova, Raymond Weil and Wenger, Pearls are also available. The online site is very attractive, but it does not feature a pre-order online retail facility.

Although described as duty-free jewelry, in fact there is (generally) no actual 'Excise Duty' on the goods sold, only local import or sales taxes. The tax savings will depend on where you live, your currency exchange and the equivalent prices and taxes at home. You should also remember the Customs Allowances and Exemptions for your return journey.
