Army & Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES) run many of the retail services for supply to United States Military personnel around the world and in numerous overseas locations most of these sales are tax-free. More famously known as 'The PX' (Post Exchange) or BX (Base Exchange), the system was developed in conjunction with the postal service and later evolved into a massive retail and service operation with revenues of over $10billion in 2011. It is based in Dallas, Texas.

Retail and online stores are provided in over 30 countries, where a vast range of goods is supplied at prices comparative to The United States. For those residing in an overseas posting, many products are sold at tax-free prices. A good example of this would be vehicles for personal use, which can later be shipped home without paying import duty and in some countries even fuel is provided with tax concessions. AAFES has now developed a global eCommerce platform which enables staff to buy online from any overseas location.

There are equivalent Military Organisations for The Navy, Navy Exchange (NEX), Marine Corps Exchange (MCX) and Coast Guard Exchange (CGX), all providing similar services.
