Shilla Company is a Group Affiliate of the giant South Korean conglomerate Samsung and is a sub-division of Hotel Shilla the luxury hotel, leisure and hospitality business. Shilla have one of the best duty-free operations in Asia, it primarily caters for Korean, Japanese and Chinese visitors to the country. But, the Firm recently indicated its overseas expansion plans, investing in a near 20% stake, by buying into the duty-free competitor Dongwha Duty Free.

Both companies have expertise in 'Downtown Duty Free', a concept generally unknown in Europe and The Americas. This form of tax-free shopping enables visitors to shop at department stores in the centre of a city, rather than the airport or port store and then have their goods delivered to them for their departure.

The Group operate stores at all the main airports in Korea, the tourist resorts and downtown retail complexes. These outlets include specialist boutiques for brands such as Louis Vuitton and others and the traditional duty-free products. The company has an excellent online pre-order duty free website in multi lingual format.
