Grupo Wisa used to be called Waked International when they were purely a Perfume and Cosmetic distribution company established on the tax-free Colombian island of San Andrés, but since then they have developed numerous duty-free shops, mainly in Central America and Colombia. Then in 2005 they decided to expand further afield into Travel Retail, culminating with their introduction in the Uruguayan frontier cities of Rivera, Rio Branco, Chuy and Aceguá, all of which have a vibrant cross-border trade for Brazilian shoppers.

The Firm usually operate retail stores under the name 'La Riviera', but they also have partnerships with luxury brands such as H.Stern, the Brazilian Jeweller, Jimmy Choo, Victoria's Secret and now they are moving into electronics. The Company can also be found in ports which cater for cruise ships.
