Dubai Duty Free is the single largest duty free shop in the world by sales revenue and one of the top six Travel Retail Operators. 25 years ago, sales at Dubai airport were non-existent, in 2014 they are expected to be in the region of USD$1.8 billion or more.

This makes DDF one of the largest retail outlets around the globe.

The Company is owned and based in the Emirate of Dubai in the Gulf and has grown due to the creation of Dubai International Airport and Emirates Airlines as one of the largest international airline hubs in the world, with traffic now spannning all continents.

The Management of the business originally came from Ireland, the home of duty-free and this has helped to precipitate the growth. Until recently, DDF only operated the main airport stores, but last year they expanded by opening a border store located on the road to Muscat, Oman and soon they will commence retail operations at Dubai's new, second airport Al Maktoum International.

Apart from the traditional duty-free products such as tobaccos, wines and spirits, where the prices are some of the cheapest in the world, there is a huge gold jewellery section and an innovative food section selling products much liked in The Philippines, Africa or The Indian sub-Continent. All the major perfume and cosmetics brands are represented and there is a growing electronics and technology sector.

All airport terminals have stores available in the departures and arrivals areas and the new Concourse A terminal which caters solely for Airbus A380 passengers, has specific stores for economy, business and first class passengers.
