Duty Free in the Dominican Republic is allowed on arrival and departure. All the island's airports have an arrivals store in the baggage claim area where you can buy the usual range of liquors, tobaccos, perfumes, cosmetics and gifts.

The main tourist gateways are Punta Cana, Puerto Plata and La Romana, there are some selected charter flights to Samana, but they are limited. Las Americas airport in the capital and Santiago also have an arrival store, but these airports mainly service scheduled airline routes to the USA and Europe.

Prices in all these airport stores are based on US Dollars, so any discount you expect very much depends on your home country and the exchange rate at the time of travel.
